Chicago Bears at Los Angeles Rams Betting Preview

The Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams were two of the best teams in football a season ago, but things have not gone the same way this season. Both teams are fighting to stay in playoff contention this season, and this game will go a long way towards deciding that. This is a rematch of a regular season game a season ago that was won by the Bears in Chicago. This game will also feature two of the best defensive players in the NFL in Khalil Mack of the Bears and Aaron Donald of the Rams.

Los Angeles comes into this game with a record of 5-4, but they have been wildly inconsistent. The Rams suffered a stunning 17-12 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 10, and will be looking to bounce back. Chicago was able to snap a four game losing streak with a victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Bears are just 4-5 on the season, and are in third place in the NFC North. Los Angeles is a -7.0 point favorite over Chicago on Sunday Night Football.

Bears Offense Just Can’t Figure it Out

The Chicago Bears just continue to struggle on offense, and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has looked lost this season. Trubisky did throw three touchdown passes against the Lions in week 10, but does not strike fear into opposing defenses. The Bears are also one of the worst rushing teams in the NFL, and are averaging just over 80 yards per game. Rookie David Montgomery leads the team with 466 yards this season, but has yet to really find his rhythm in Matt Nagy’s offense.

Defense was supposed to carry this Bears team, but injuries have taken a toll. The Bears have given up 17.4 points per game, but they have struggled to get key stops when they need it the most. Khalil Mack leads the team with 5.5 sacks this season, but the loss of Akiem Hicks has really hurt the Bears pass rush. Chicago will have to find a way to slow down Goff and company in this game.

Los Angeles Defense Getting It Done

The Rams have made some changes and improvements to their defense this season, and they have been playing great of late. Los Angeles is giving up over 21 points per game this season, but that has been much better in the last four weeks. The Rams have not allowed more than 17 points in each of the last three weeks, and they are facing a struggling offense in this game. Los Angeles has 26 sacks so far this season, and defensive tackle Aaron Donald will spend some time pressuring Trubisky in this one.

Running back Todd Gurley continues to struggle for the Rams, and it has hurt their balance on offense. The Rams are averaging less than 100 yards per game, which was one of their strengths a season ago. Quarterback Jared Goff has thrown for over 2,600 this season, but the Rams have asked him to throw the ball a ton. Los Angeles will also be without wide receiver Brandin Cooks in this game, and that is a big blow.

Rams Blow Out Bears on Sunday Night Football

The Bears completely shut down the Rams on Monday Night Football a season ago, and Los Angeles will have revenge on their minds. Both teams have taken a huge step back this season, but they are both still in the playoff race. The Rams still have a ton of weapons on offense, but they have not figured out how to put it all together. Chicago’s defense was supposed to be their calling card, but injuries have set them back. Los Angeles is going to score plenty of points in this game, and the Bears won’t be able to keep up.
