The Indianapolis Colts have a lot to look forward to heading into the 2015-2016 season. They will enter as one of the favorites again and why not? The Colts go much better on offense and a couple of subtle moves on the defense make them a force to be reckoned with.

You have to think that they will run away with the AFC South and they should be in the biggest games at the end of the season.

The question is – how far can they go?

The Indianapolis Colts, on paper look unstoppable offensively. First you have Andrew Luck who has absolutely lit up the league since he entered it – at least 11 wins in each of his first three seasons. Luck is absolutely in that elite corp. of NFL QB – he will win games all by himself. The passing game added reliable previous stud Andre Johnson to pair with TY Hilton – and they drafted a speedster. You can bet that AFC Defensive Coordinators will lose sleep over who to shadow!

And then there is perhaps the biggest improvement of this team in the offseason – the running game. Frank Gore, while not spectacular is as solid as they come. The Colts haven’t had a 1000 yard rusher since 2007! Gore has never had the room he is certain to find with defenses trying to stop the pass. The recipe is for a good ground game for Indianapolis to go along with a typically stellar passing game.

Many point to the defense as the weak link on this team but let’s face it. This defense is just going to have to be mediocre this year. They won’t be called on much to be the difference in the game – offense will win or lose for the Colts each week. Kendall Langford and Nate Irving were nice signings to give the run stopping unit a decent upgrade. Former Eagle Trent Cole should be able to do some damage in the pass rush. When Robert Mathis returns from his Achilles injury the Colts will be just fine.

Prediction: So where does that leave us? We know that the Colts will win the AFC South but how about the AFC or even the Super Bowl?

My bet is that the Colts finish similar to last year – they are who they are. Eventually, a lack of defense will catch up to Indianapolis in the postseason – grinding teams like Pittsburgh, Baltimore, New England and Denver seem to get the better of this team on the Big Stage. The Colts are still a piece or two away – you put a Derrelle Revis on this team and they are a good bet to win it all.

Expect Indianapolis to o 11-5 again this year – Over the 9.5 wins Vegas has set out. As for winning the AFC or Super Bowl – I see a more well-rounded team beating this team when it all counts.
